how they’ve changed!  From chisels
and mallets on wood and stone,
each letter, hieroglyph, pictograph
a chore to communicate, educate,
entertain via sweat and grunt;
to now’s gel pens and keyboards
that scribble and tap tap tap
often about nothing at all.
