from small seeds
nourishment can grow
across a season
Thanks again to Steve from half-fast cycling club for pushing me over the procrastination hump to get out in the yard to clear away vegetative detritus and put away gardening support stuff. I found gems in the process, including the above carrots. I only planted a few seeds in the birdhouse gourds bed and they did their thing in the mostly shade. I also learned that there are 8, not 7, gourds. Four are still growing on the living vines. Two got iffy at the neck but can probably be turned into vases. There were also several small green tomatoes on the dead vines I pulled and there are still living vines with blossoms on them. Grandma used to make a weird jam with green tomatoes and raspberry jello. Maybe I can give it a try. I also wheelbarrowed a few loads of pine needles out back. Last winter they clogged the thing in the snowblower that churns and don’t want to repeat that.
