It’s been many moons since reading Tolkien’s, The Hobbit, The Trilogy, and The Silmarillion, and not quite so long since seeing 3 of the 4 films made so far. I remember how pivotal, Sting, the shortsword first re-found by Gandalf, given to Bilbo, then later handed off to his nephew Frodo, was to key events in the stories. For those who haven’t read the books or seen the movies yet, the following is a history of this tiny, yet powerful blade:
history of Sting, from Tolkien Gateway
The following is the clip in The Hobbit, where Sting was found:
The clip where Gandalf gives Sting to Bilbo.
I just started rewatching the films this week! Haha! I can only watch the movies every few years or else the lingering over the beauty turns into slow pacing.

They are beautiful and the beauty can be distracting from the story line. They have done a good job of creating Tolkien’s world on the big screen.
