Try to
explain
to a child
the taint in the water
when, by its very nature,
the child will have no capacity
to understand. Try to
explain to a parent
how a system
expects her
to accept
their choice
to cut the children
of Flint in half. Try to
explain to the public why
the city connected the auto plant
to the new pipeline filled with
clean fresh water from Lake
Michigan and denied the
humans there their
basic human right
to access.
Try to explain why
the citizens of Flint continue
to drink bottled water until their
toxic plumbing lines are fixed, but
why the auto plant continues to get their
clean fresh water from the new pipeline. Try to
explain why Governor Rick Snyder, the
monster who gave his o.k. to all of it,
isn’t sitting in a prison cell
RIGHT NOW.

It’s incomprehensible. Quite shocking 😞

I do not understand either.
I was brought up with mottos like “water is life, let’s protect it”. Then I read that some bottled water in stores is from some city’s tap water. Hugh?
And then, then there is Flint. Or the pipeline on Native American territory and I shake my head in disbelief at the utter silliness of what this God-like think they revere, money, is ruining us all… 😔

What is so devastating about the Flint lead poisoning (among the other poisons) is that lead stays in your body and wreaks havoc to it. Chelation is one of the few (the only? I’ve heard sweating it out through infrared saunas might work) ways of getting it out of the body, and that is a very expensive process. If they won’t even fix the contaminated pipes, there is no way on earth they will put every affected person in Flint through the chelation process :( There is a special place in hell for anyone who was part of the decision-making process that allowed this to happen and allows it to continue.

Shocking how they take inane decisions and aren’t held accountable!

Currently there is a stranglehold of Republican governors, with 33 republican, 16 democrat, and 1 independent. Next Tuesday, 11/6, 36 states will hold elections for governor. 26 of the seats are held by Republicans, 9 are held by Democrats, and one is held by an independent. Incumbent governors are running for re-election in 20 states—6 Democratic, 13 Republican, and one independent. The Republicans are openly, brazenly, and arrogantly doing whatever they want across the US. I pray there’s a big flip next week. That said…. we had that before and the democrats didn’t do diddly with their control. Let’s hope this time, if it happens, they use their power to actively get our nation back in balance.

And even after others – Karen Silkwood for example – companies and policy makers don’t deal with the problems – beggars belief.

This is horrific! We should copy your poem draft a letter and each of us send to our states representatives. I can’t believe they let it go on even after bring exposed.

We tried to get Snyder out back a few years ago, when he started appointing emergency fiscal managers to take over local governments. We circulated petitions to recall him and got more than enough signatures. Then the MI legislature enacted some bs countermeasure to stop it. I’m really hoping next Tuesday that the Dems can get back at the helm and do something. One of the people who was running in the primaries made it the platform of his campaign to clean up Flint, but he didn’t win in the primary :(
