Today’s prompt is lunacy. Today’s offering is based upon concepts laid out by Dr. Clarissa Pinkola-Estes , a Jungian psychoanalyst who is also a cantadora , or storyteller. The darkness is a metaphor for one’s dreams. The lunacy here are the strange and fantastical icons, symbols, etc. that one is able to retrieve from their dreams.
as dark night approaches
and moon is pregnant full
a rustling of owl’s wings
faint whooshing through the lull
soundlessly alighting
upon each bare tree branch
scouting out yon tidbits
from nether world’s enchants
*
upon full moon’s decree
that gains her full access
to the darkest regions
of psyche’s deep crevasse
turns, dips, and barrel turns
past boulders, crags, and death
she seeks, finds great treasures
from nameless givers’ breaths
*
returning they are clutched
her talons shining bright
her breast, glowing yellow
her eyes match Luna’s light
embers holding wisdom
presented to the soul
pieces of the puzzle
until the picture’s whole
A lovely poem!!
