Fandango’s FOWC is pair, and the Word of the Day Challenge is waltzing.
The other night
while fast asleep
faire music did I hear
I pinched myself
to be assured
no dream it was
’twas clear
I stumbled groggy
from room to room
all was as it should be
I looked outside
the back window
and there what I did see
but a glowing ember
in the gloom.
*
Shoved on my boots
and wrapped with coat
I opened the back door
I heard the music clearly now
much louder than before.
Banjo, pipe,
and drumming sounds
from out near the barn
the glow did light from
within and without
and lent the grave night
some charm
‘Twas then I noticed
upon the snow was
a cast of blood red gleam.
*
The Super Blood
Wolf Moon, bewitching
field and stream,
called dark creatures
of the night to the dance
in this waking dream.
I hugged myself, pulled
down my hat, and
gingerly picked my way
to the barn window
to gaze upon the minions
colorfully arrayed
A pair of owls was waltzing
and so were a pair of fox
A Wolf Trio Played.
*
My freezing limbs
soon grew warm
mesmerized
by their twirls
The snow began
to kick and waltz in
graceful whirls and curls.
My eyelids soon grew
heavy as dawn began
to creep
before I saw the sun arise
I was fast asleep.
They found me in
the morning,
a gleaming sunny day,
*
Wrapped in a blanket
of white crystalline snow
at play with the sun,
twinkling like diamonds.
Superb!! Well done!!
