It’s been awhile since I’ve listened to Pearl Jam, which has a lot to do with listening to much new music — thanks to the wonderful music bloggers! Tonight I listened to PJ’s, “Binaural”. The cut from it today is, “Thin Air”, which makes my heart go pitter-patter every time I hear it. Songs don’t have to be big to be big and this is one of those big small songs. Stone Gossard wrote it.
per wiki: Binaural is the sixth studio album by the American alternative rock band Pearl Jam, released on May 16, 2000 … During the production of the album, the band encountered hindrances such as singer Eddie Vedder’s writer’s block, and guitarist Mike McCready’s entrance into rehabilitation due to an addiction to prescription drugs. This is Pearl Jam’s first album to feature former Soundgarden drummer Matt Cameron, who was joined during 1998’s Yield Tour to replace Jack Irons. …The music on the record featured an experimental sound, evident on songs that used binaural recording techniques. [as Jeremy James wrote about in one of his posts].
There’s a light, when my baby’s in my arms,
There’s a light, when the window shades are drawn,
Hesitate, when I feel I may do harm to her,
Watch it all, cause this feeling we can share.
And I know she’s reached my heart, in thin air.
Byzantine is reflected in our pond,
There’s a cloud, but the water remains calm,
Reaching in, the suns fingers clutch the dawn to pass,
Even out, it’s a precious thing to bear.
And I know she’s reached my heart, in thin air,
Yes I know she’s reached my heart, in thin air.
It’s not in my past to presume,
Love can keep on moving in both directions.
How to be happy and true,
Is the quest we’re taking on together,
Taking on, on, on, on,
Taking on, on, on, on, on, on.
There’s a light, when my baby’s in my arms,
And I know she’s reached my heart in thin air,
And I know she’s reached my heart in thin air,
And I know she’s reached my heart in thin air,
Yes I know she’s reached my heart.

Until I got going on WP and the music blogs, they were a daily listen for me. I’m part of their Jamily. Maybe time you reacquainted yourself?

I did like some of their stuff. I like Vedder’s voice. I saw him play with the remaining Doors and he sounded a lot like Morrison…it was totally different.

like Badfinger i haven’t heard Pearl Jam in 20 plus years- other than Eddie’s soundtrack to the movie about the young man who went hiking in Alaska and the song he did about the Chicago Cubs.

They’ve mellowed way out since then.

Can’t go past some Jam, just love the colour scheme you’ve used – are you random or intuitive?

Glad you like Jam. Not sure what you mean about random or intuitive?

Do you plan your colour or just go with whatever stirs.

I choose color schemes (e.g. earthtones, valentines, floral) then the shades as I go, so I guess a little of both.

Nice blend, very Tao, and I say that without irony.
