WARNING:  may be trauma triggering to some readers

Chicago’s city-wide curfew for a month due to a series of bomb threats is lifted today, and tonight is the carnival.

Every ride is crammed, and the lines are long. Johnny, Susie, Chenny, and I savor our elephant ears as we wait in line for the ferris wheel.

Finally we board, all four of us in one seat. It’s chilly out this evening, so we snuggle our honeys for warmth. We’re at peace as we glide….

KABOOM!!!!!

The explosion at the base of the wheel sends it rolling into the lake. We find ourselves clinging to it in the water.

The End.

I forgot about Elephant Ears… they are great. I love carnival food…I have to watch myself when I go. I love a carnival at night.

Yes, carnival at night is the only time to go. I remember as a kid how excited I got when the carnival came to town.

I can still feel that excitement. I would line up for the Tilt a Whirl

Tilt a Whirl and the Himalaya were my two favorites. If it spun or twisted just right there’s that laughter you can’t keep in.

I can’t stand heights but I love spinning. I never ever got to ride the Himalaya for one reason or another…I always wanted to. Love the loud rock music they would play.
I also liked the Spider,,,it didn’t go too high.

This must mean you don’t ride rollercoasters or the ferris wheel?

You got it! No rollercosters for me. I road one big one before when I was a teen… I told myself never again. It was in Nashville and an old wooden one very high.

  5. Seemed too good to be true, and just the sort of atrocity the bastards are planning on a daily basis i’ll bet. Good stuff, but painfully realistic and believable

The foreshadowing in the beginning made me go uh-oh when they went on that ride. Nice detail, it felt very real until the tragical ending. They are lucky to still be alive.
