Someone wrote about musical group, Garbage, on their blog awhile back –thank you!– which led me to borrowing some CDs from the library, which I picked up yesterday. I listened to this last tonight. Garbage is alive and kicking. “Supervixen” is just one of several pounding tunes with superb lyrics on various topics.
From wikipedia: Garbage is an American rock band formed in Madison, Wisconsin, in 1993. The band consists of Scottish musician and lead singer Shirley Manson and American musicians Duke Erikson, Steve Marker, and Butch Vig. All four members are involved in songwriting and production. Garbage has sold over 17 million albums worldwide. [The self-titled] Garbage is the debut studio album by American rock band Garbage. It was released on August 15, 1995, by Almo Sounds. The album was met with critical acclaim upon its release, being viewed by some as an innovative recording for its time. It reached number 20 on the US Billboard 200 and number six on the UK Albums Chart, while charting inside the top 20 and receiving multi-platinum certifications in several territories.
I thought twice about whether or not to use the youtube of just the album cover or to use this live version, as I don’t want the lead singer’s looks to prejudice you against the music. Shirley Manson is the singer and she not only sings this right, she is smokin’ hot! The band plays righteously and with passion. I did some looking around out in googleland and see the band is still going strong.
Come down to my house
Stick a stone in your mouth
You can always pull out
If you like it too much
Make a whole new religion
A falling star that you cannot live without
And I’ll feed your obsession
There’ll be nothing but this thing that you’ll never doubt
A hit is hard to resist
And I never miss
I can take you out
With just a flick of my wrist
Make a whole new religion
A falling star that you cannot live without
And I’ll feed your obsessions
There is nothing but this thing that you’ll never doubt
This thing you’ll never doubt
And I’ll feed your obsession
The falling star that you cannot live without
I will be your religion
This thing you’ll never doubt
You’re not the only one
You’re not the only one
Bow down to me
Bow down to me
Bow down to me
Bow down to me
Bow down to me
Bow down to me
Bow down to me

I was a Garbage fan back in the day. I saw them a couple of times.
There is a song called “I’m Only Happy When It Rains” – lol…it is miserable! But the guitars were great, it was all part of the Britpop-mania which I got immersed in.

Very awesome that you know them and were a fan. That song is on one of the CDs I got from the library. And to think Shirley came from just one state over from me, Wisconsin!

They are a new band to me. Didn’t know they had new music out, but will plan on skipping it if it’s no good.

The recent album came after a very long hiatus, and it’s listenable, but I didn’t buy it. All the earlier stuff is fabulous.
