Welcome to “Fandango’s Flash Fiction Challenge.” Each week I will be posting a photo I grab off the internet and challenge bloggers to write a relatively short flash fiction piece inspired by the photo. While there are no definitive style or word limits, I suggest trying to keep your posts to under 300 words.
The image below is from AdnaeInviere at DeviantArt.com.
If this picture inspires you and you wish to participate, please write your post, use the tag #FFFC, and link back to this post.
By the celestial hand of my father, I am wound, stepping from place to place. Never resting, I am vigilant, encroaching upon your dreams, fantasies, and nightmares. There is no magical picture to save you from my necrotic touch. Injections, procedures, and potions will not save you from my heartless mission. You may be able to outrun me for awhile with exercise, healthy eating, and a positive spirit, but you will tire and I will not. For me, it’s nothing personal.
I also bring melting snow, sunshine, and fields of flowers.
New life from ashes.
Time knows no season
Goes forward, through eons
One second at a time.
Marching forward, time –
the living clockwork that brings
life, death, and the rest.

I like the combination of mechanics and myth. (K)
