De is the host of dVerse today. De says:
This week’s word is our tiniest yet. Today, I want you play with the word “up.” Noun, verb, adverb, adjective…this wee word is versatile, and can be tossed into the mix in so many ways… Put it in a form, or play with rhyme (or not). The rest of the “rules” are completely up to you. Just be sure to cook us up a poem of exactly 44 words, including some form of the word up.
Lady Sol Sings
Living Rock’s Goddess,
Broadcast your beacon,
While we, enraptured,
Mouth-gaped, reach up,
Stretching towards you
As you fill us with your light.
Resonant immortal mutations,
We, floral and faunal supplicants,
Slumbered, languishing in
Your benign neglect.
We blossom now under your
Resurrecting regard.

very ‘Here Comes the Sun’~ish

I love the sun as Living Rock’s Goddess, Jade, wonderful personification, and I like the alliteration in ‘floral and faunal supplicants’ – they definitely sound like they are worshipping her!

Kim, I appreciate your feedback, which is helpful to understanding the terminology of the poem; and yes, we (imagine me as that person in the picture) ARE worshipping her <3

This poem made me take a deep breath and sigh in satisfaction. We all need to feel like that sometimes.

Thank you, Sarah. It literally feels like I come to life when the sun shines, just like the flowers, turning their faces to the sun.

Beautiful. I just love the idea of “Lady Sol”. We sing too now in her light.

Yes, I like that. We are like energizer bunnies who get our batteries charged up and can sing again.
