In 1973, Charles was the star basketball player for the University of Wyoming’s NBAA #1 rated Laramie Mountain Lions. Playing forward on and off the court, Charles’ colorful actions around town kept him on Section 1, page 1 of the town’s newspaper, The Laramie Return Serve.
Charles’ latest exploits involved dating four identical quadruplet sisters at the same time. What made things difficult for Charles is that all four of the young ladies were preparing for their upcoming debutante ball. Their father, who acted as both Mayor and Police Chief for Laramie, was none too pleased. He spit his breakfast coffee all over the table and the paper that morning after retrieving The Return Serve from the front step.
Nobody would have been the wiser for Charles’ actions if Betty, the oldest quadruplet by 10 minutes, hadn’t seen Charles kissing Wilma behind the willow tree. When Betty started yelling, Samantha and Tabitha ran outside. Tabitha, the youngest, and the most jealous of the four, jumped on Wilma, which led to a roll in the mud for all of them. Postman Greenjeans, the biggest gossip in town, just happened to be walking by at the time and heard what was going on. Next thing you know, The Return Serve got wind of it.
Mayor/Police Chief Wiggins arranged a meeting with the President of the University and the Coach of the Mountain Lions. Wiggins didn’t care how it was done, only that Charles needed to move along in his illustrious career – far from Laramie.
It was late in the season and unusual for a roster change, but Charles was traded to the Illinois State University Cardinals. Betty, Wilma, Samantha, and Tabitha had a Debutante Ball Laramie talks about until this day.

I can’t blame the guy, really. I set it back then as I’m not sure it would be as easy to “transfer” Charles in these times. I may be wrong, but…

I was wondering why you have been so scarce. Hoping you keep a heating pad on it. I had a heating pad where I watch TV now, always heating my back at kidney level. Hoping you get some relief soon, Max. I’ve heard those things are excruciating!

My dad had seventy…yea seventy… I’ve been very lucky so far…it hurts really bad if I start moving about…but that is what is going on.

I was going to try to add a twist where they all knew about each other with Charles and it was really just one of them going out with him and pretending to be all 4, but that was too convoluted for even me to figure out ;)
