:) I’ve been hearing him out back the last few days, and either his head is hollow or the tree is!

You really packed a lot of Spring is sparse haiku. I like the last one best; Woody Woodpecker was a fave cartoon as a kid.

Thank you, Glenn. With the suet cage out there, it draws a variety of woodpeckers in. Woody has rejected the handout and is busy in the back woods, looking for live snacks. Woody Woodpecker is a fun cartoon character.

The photographs are vibrant and stunning, Jade, and I love the woodpecker – I haven’t heard one yet, but we usually have one that returns each year. My favourite haiku is the one about the dahlia, which reminds me of my grandfather’s garden; he didn’t have many, but he was so proud of them!

Thank you, Kim. I love dahlias also but don’t have any yet at this house. I’m happy the dahlia reminds you of your grandfather.

I like the idea of “seasonal tenants”. So true! The sound of woodpeckers in my yard does not bother me. They can rat-a-tat-tat all they want. :) I enjoyed your haiku trio!
