50 Word Thursday — Gifts of the Gods

IMG_2798

Since their human creations did not keep them as entertained as they used to with their many adventures and follies with the humans as unwitting victims of exploitation; and likewise, the humans did not trust the Gods and Goddesses or turn to them for assistance as much anymore, the Gods and Goddesses needed to find something to occupy their time. They chose gardening.

Mount Olympus became a giant floral extravaganza. Athena grew daisies; Apollo, sunflowers; Zeus grew many different flowers; Poseidon, waterlilies; Aphrodite, peonies; Hera, hosta; Ares, invasive species; Hades, mushrooms; Dionysus, grapes; Artemis, orchids; Hephaestus, cacti; Hermes, roses; Demeter was the coordinator of the gardens and made sure the plants were fertile; Hestia, groundcover plants; Tyche, berries of all kinds.

As a result of some surprising introspection, the Gods and Goddesses started placing some flowers and others products from their garden at their statues to give thanks to humans.

Sometimes I can’t wait for retirement, just for that reason, imagining myself spinning oodles of yarns all day long. Other times, though, I’m like, “Say what now? I can RETIRE in another 10 years? Where did my 40s and 50s go??!!”

The internal debate on whether to go back to work continues for me. You’ve got plenty of time to get there!
