song lyric sunday

Jim is the ever-ready host of Song Lyric Sunday.  Jim says:
Our prompt for this week is Desire/Lust/Romance/Passion is something that I think will produce a lot of smoking hot music.

Here are the “rules”:

  • Post the lyrics to the song of your choice, whether it fits the theme or not.
  • Please try to include the songwriter(s) – it’s a good idea to give credit where credit is due.
  • Make sure you also credit the singer/band and if you desire you can provide a link to where you found the lyrics.
  • Link to the YouTube video, or pull it into your post so others can listen to the song.
  • Ping back to this post will eventually work, as long as you are being patient, but you can also place your link in the comments if you don’t like to wait.
  • Read at least one other person’s blog, so we can all share new and fantastic music and create amazing new blogging friends in the process.
  • Feel free to suggest future prompts.
  • Have fun and enjoy the music.

George Michael Painting - George Michael Painting by Paul Meijering

I bought this CD when it first came out, and I played it incessantly.  I know the lyrics by heart of every song (or used to, maybe still do) and danced while doing housework to it.  This CD is not fluff.  It’s quality and the lyrics are sharp.  The beat throbs to many, and some are quietly beautiful.  George, I hope you’re enjoying making beautiful music in heaven.

Faith is the debut solo studio album by the English singer George Michael, released on 30 October 1987 by Columbia Records and Epic Records. In addition to playing a large number of instruments on the album, Michael wrote and produced every track on the recording except for one, “Look at Your Hands”, which he co-wrote with David Austin. A contemporary pop-R&B album, Faith’s songs include introspective lyrics, which generated controversies about Michael’s personal relationships at that time.

Faith peaked at number one on the US Billboard 200. The album spawned four number one singles on the Billboard Hot 100: “Faith”, “Father Figure”, “One More Try”, and “Monkey”, making Michael the only British male solo artist to have four number one hits from one album on the Billboard Hot 100. The album stayed for 51 non-consecutive weeks inside the Billboard 200 top 10, including 12 weeks at number one. It was also the first album by a white solo artist to hit number one on the US R&B Albums.

From songfacts.com:  “I Want Your Sex,” caused a great deal of controversy when it was initially released, but was a rare song that became accepted as the artist explained himself. Amid concerns that the song was promoting promiscuity in the age of AIDS, the BBC restricted airplay to after 9 p.m., and many US radio stations refused to play it. Michael issued a statement in response, saying, “The media has divided love and sex incredibly. The emphasis of the AIDS campaign has been on safe sex, but the campaign has missed relationships. It’s missed emotion. It’s missed monogamy. ‘I Want Your Sex’ is about attaching lust to love, not just to strangers.”

There’s things that you guess
And things that you know
There’s boys you can trust
And girls that you don’t
There’s little things you hide
And little things that you show
Sometimes you think you’re gonna get it
But you don’t and that’s just the way it goes

I swear I won’t tease you
Won’t tell you no lies
I don’t need no bible
Just look in my eyes
I’ve waited so long baby
Now that we’re friends
A man’s got his patience
And here’s where mine ends

I want your sex
I want your love
I want your sex
I want your….. sex

It’s playing on my mind
It’s dancing on my soul
It’s taken so much time
So why don’t you just let me go
I’d really like to try
Oh I’d really love to know
When you tell me you’re gonna regret it
Then I tell you that I love you but you still say no!

I swear I won’t tease you
Won’t tell you no lies
I don’t need no bible
Just look in my eyes
I’ve waited so long baby
Out in the cold
I can’t take much more girl
I’m losing control

I want your sex
I want your love
I want your sex
I want your……. sex, Sex!

It’s natural
It’s chemical (let’s do it)
It’s logical
Habitual (can we do it?)
It’s sensual
But most of all
Sex is something that we should do
Sex is something for me and you

Sex is natural, sex is good
Not everybody does it
But everybody should
Sex is natural, sex is fun
Sex is best when it’s, one on one
One on one

Sex, I’m not your father
Sex, I’m not your brother
Sex, Talk to your sister
Sex, I am a lover
Sex
Sex
Sex
C-c-c-c-come on

What’s your definition of dirty baby
What do you consider pornography
Don’t you know I love you till it hurts me baby
Don’t you think it’s time you had sex with me

What’s your definition of dirty baby
What do you call pornography
Don’t you know I love you till it hurts me baby
Don’t you think it’s time you had sex with me

Sex with me
Sex with me
Have sex with me

C-c-c-c-come on

  1. I hated Wham! But I liked this album. I don’t know if he was still doing the Top 40 at the time but it would have been fun to hear Casey Kasem- say- now at #4 [or whatever} George Michael- and “I Want Your Sex”- that would have even been better than his saying “The Bitch Is Back.”

  2. Thanks. In the other info on the song, he rarely played it out in public and didn’t have it on compilation albums because he thought he was lifting from Prince, but also said he had a crush on Prince.
