#FF — Terminal

Terminal

Left doctor’s office with the news,
I won’t wear out this pair of shoes.
Another Spring I’ll never see,
Way station to eternity.

If you’re to say goodbye to me
Please do it now, flight leaves at three.
So many things I want to say
To you, my love. Wish I could stay.

I’ll wait for you in Aether’s realm
Cry not for me nor overwhelm
Our loved ones need you to be strong
We’ll meet each time they play our song.

  1. Dear Lisa,

This one strikes a chord for me. An old friend is facing this way station. Well written.

    Shalom,

    Rochelle

A poignant, heartfelt poem. I like the way you’ve blended the idea of the airport with the narrator’s departure from life. “Aether’s realm” is an excellent connection, as is your punning title. It’s lovely, Jade, and it moved me.

Some sad and bad news doctor has given. Time is also too short. But all of us have to go sometime. So see you there in near or distant future.

  22. A lovely piece, Jade. It’s hard to say this kind of goodbye. When my mother stopped eating years ago in her nineties, I called my brother so he could come and say, “Goodbye”. —- Suzanne
