For the prompt on creativity, I picked out some quotes by creative people and will include a sample of their work. These are people who walked the talk.
“Creativity takes courage. ”
― Henri Matisse

“Nude in White Turban” by Henri Matisse
“Don’t be satisfied with stories,
how things have gone with others.
Unfold your own myth.”
― Rumi, The Essential Rumi

“There are painters who transform the sun to a yellow spot, but there are others who with the help of their art and their intelligence, transform a yellow spot into sun”
― Pablo Picasso

Dora Maar Seated by Pablo Picasso
“The painter has the Universe in his mind and hands.”
― Leonardo da Vinci

“The truly creative mind in any field is no more than this: A human creature born abnormally, inhumanly sensitive. To him… a touch is a blow, a sound is a noise, a misfortune is a tragedy, a joy is an ecstasy, a friend is a lover, a lover is a god, and failure is death. Add to this cruelly delicate organism the overpowering necessity to create, create, create — so that without the creating of music or poetry or books or buildings or something of meaning, his very breath is cut off from him. He must create, must pour out creation. By some strange, unknown, inward urgency he is not really alive unless he is creating.”
― Pearl S. Buck
“Don’t think about making art, just get it done. Let everyone else decide if it’s good or bad, whether they love it or hate it. While they are deciding, make even more art.”
― Andy Warhol

“Thank goodness I was never sent to school; it would have rubbed off some of the originality.”
― Beatrix Potter

Superb quotes and yet l cannot help but feel the last quote by BP is so astonishingly true it’s actually quite scary. Our kids lose their creativity at school, because of the way too academic approach – all nicely quoted Li :)

I wish I would have realized that before I sent my kids to school. School teaches indoctrination and obedience to that indoctrination, and that is all. I appreciate your thoughts and comments, Rory, thank you.

My pleasure Li, l hope you are keeping well.
Modern schooling is a thing l simply don’t desire, it’s sinful what is now being taught and what is being ignored. When l went to school, forty odd years ago, creativity was celebrated, sadly not anymore, and l think we are in times when more creativity is needed just to promote happiness and not drudgery which seems to be in schools these days.
I know a lot of parents that are home schoolers and one of the first things they are always encouraging is enthusing creativity – it encourages imagination, and yet modern schools, they are not doing that, they are simply producing drones, and clones of even more drones – that’s is very alarming :(

Yes, Rory, I’m doing well, and I hope the same with you. I had to trim back on the amount of reading and writing so not participating in your blog. I should have given a “note of resignation” to you. I enjoyed my time with your blog as it is really jumping. Home-schooling parents are giving their kids a one-up that is more valuable than they could possibly imagine. You’re right, they produce drones in school. All of the creative electives have been cut out of the budgets of many schools.

No resignation note is ever required Li :) I figured that is what had happened. We all make changes, l cut back the sheer volume of prompts l was doing as it was just becoming quite overwhelming so l could concentrate on other things also :)
I still pop by and glad that l do :)

Those are all so great! I adore Rumi and the Beatrix Potter one made me smile. I homeschooled my kids and can relate SO hard <3

<3 You are a good mommy who home-schooled your kids. If I could do it over again, I would home-school my kids. You have done a great service to your children.

Awe, thank you! I hope so. I see it strongly in my daughter. My son says he hated it but in the next sentence says he wants to homeschool his daughter, so maybe not?
It was a great experience. I hope you get the chance in another life.

I LOVE that idea, Lael. The ripples from your home-schooling your kids is now to your grandkids. So very cool.
