I chose to finally do a coloring from the cat coloring book I have. I chose it because these guitar masters are some cool cats.
I hit the jackpot with the 2-CD set today.
“Chet Atkins: Four Master Classic Albums: 1978 – 1997” which includes:
“Guitar Monsters” (with Les Paul) (1978);
“Neck & Neck” (with Mark Knopfler)(1990);
“Sneakin’ Around” (with Jerry Reed) (1992); and
“The Day Finger Pickers Took Over the World” (with Tommy Emmanuel) (1997.)
If that doesn’t make you about want to fall out, I don’t know what will. I listened to the first two last night and plan on choosing one from each, so today is another double feature. That said, hearing just one from each is woefully negligent and will never suffice for a listener who appreciates fine guitarists. You need to see if your local library has a copy, or go out and buy a copy. You will be delighted you did. These albums are MUST HEAR.
First we have “Guitar Monsters,” which is Chet and Les’ second collaboration, after their Grammy Award-winning release Chester & Lester in 1976. At the Grammy Awards of 1978, Guitar Monsters was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Performance.
“Aquarela do Brasil” (Watercolor of Brazil), written by Ary Barroso in 1939 and known in the English-speaking world simply as “Brazil”, is one of the most famous Brazilian songs. Some of you may recognize this song from the Terry Gilliam film, “Brazil,” which is a crazy, frightening romp in what some might say is a future that is just a little too close for comfort.
Neck and Neck is a collaborative album by American guitarist Chet Atkins and British singer-songwriter and guitarist Mark Knopfler, released on October 9, 1990 by Columbia Records.
Atkins originally recorded “Yakety Axe”, a parody of Boots’ Randolph’s “Yakety Sax”, on his 1965 album More of That Guitar Country. This new recording features lyrics and a new arrangement that were composed by Merle Travis.
Part 2 of this 2-part set is tomorrow, which will feature Chet with Jerry Reed and Chet with Tommy Emmanuel.

Yakety Axe has some real nice guitar sounds.

Some good music there- and another standout coloring- they just keep getting better and better. Cats!

Thank you, Hans. The coloring took as long as the disc, 77 minutes! Have you heard these albums? Amazing! At least the first 2 are. Listening to the other 2 today.

I’m amazed they can do something so invasive as a day surgery and you are back to yourself that same day. Glad it went well.

Well everything changed yesterday…around noon I couldn’t keep anything down and my kidney was completely blocked by large stones the doctor didn’t “see”…. Called an ambulance and I’ve never experienced pain like that in my life…and being nauseated.
He operated this morning and got them out but I’m out of it… Just wanted to say that I will be commenting soon…I’ll have to catch up. Just letting you know.

I’ve been worried! You are like clockwork and suddenly no you. Was hoping it wasn’t medical issue. UGH so sorry you had to go through that. With all the xrays they took!? They didn’t see the large stones??

I know…I’m changing doctors…to make it worse…last night in the ER I got word that my urologist told them to check me in to stay instead of coming over and doing the damn surgery then…
Never have I been in that much pain before.

I think changing doctors is a good idea, all things considered. Doctor probably unblocked the path so the other ones started moving? So the doctor made you writhe in pain when they could have given you relief right away? That’s bad karma right there. Can’t imagine the pain but everyone who I know has had them tells me it is really really bad. Sorry you had to suffer Max :(

Yep in pain… found out from a nurse it was his birthday… REALLY? I was pissed… He went in this morning and manually took the big ones out…he had to. My kidney was useless.
It was the pain on top of being nauseated.

OK doc, eat your damned cake, then get in there and do your job! I can’t imagine how horrible emergency surgery is. And nausea on top of it.

Even the Emergency Doctor and nurses were upset he didn’t come over.
They did send the stones off to get analyzed so we will find out more. I will get another Doctor.

Sounds like you have a plan of action, that’s good. You probably have lots of doctors to choose from where you’re at. I hope you tell him you don’t appreciate having to lay there in agony while he celebrated his birthday.

I wanted to right away but I had no other choice but to wait. Jen wanted to choke him. He knew I was pissed off.

I hope you are ok now. Sorry I was off the computer. Watched the last half of the Bruce Springsteen tribute, which was really good, especially the acceptance speech Bruce gave. He is a natural poet and I want to try to get the transcript of what he said, it was so beautiful.

He is a great storyteller…in song or voice.
I’m ok now…Just some soreness.

Good. Are you home now? I hope you take it easy for a bit, and follow whatever diet they gave you, such as cranberry juice and whatever else keeps them from forming again. I know your dad had a bunch. Is it hereditary?

Yes I am…
It could be hereditary…This is my first. He did tell me…if you could have a shot to either make it end or kill you…you would take the shot…now I know what he was talking about…it’s not the stone that hurts…its the blockage.

I’m signing out early tonight. Got out and rode 10 miles on my bike (and got stalked in the process! had to pull out pepper spray and text my kids with description of vehicle in case i was abducted) and finished my post early when i got home. I’m beat. I’m guessing you are feeling a little woozy yet. Hope you sleep well, Max. Goodnight.
