The sun’s rays warmed the solar cell roofing shingles on the house, which juiced up my Powerwall battery storage device today. Not only that, but the winds in the area had the windmill churning its fair share of electricity. There’s no question that if I had two Powerwalls both would be fully charged today.
I think about the pipe-layers on the road about a mile down, burying yellow pipes for natural gas that they will obtain from fracking. I could hook up to it and pay for it over a long period of time. I took another choice that costs about the same but uses nature that doesn’t hurt Mother Earth.
A question you – yes, you – need to ask yourself is, if you had to, would you have the means to go off grid? It’s time to get real. I beg you to spend 5 minutes of your time thinking about how you might be able to do it. Mother Earth is counting on us.
The End.
Fandango’s FOWC is battery and the Word of the Day Challenge is yourself.
OK the font is messed up and no idea why. Anyway, this is a WORK OF FICTION with elements of non-fiction. I don’t have solar roofing tiles or a windmill or a Powerwall to store electric power from solar and wind energy — but I wish I did!
Surely it’s time to think on these lines! Great reminder

Well, if we think, we can…

If I could I would. We thought about a windmill and all types of things…I just wish the solar panels were not so expensive.

From what I’ve heard the price on solar panels keeps dropping. It’s also the energy storage that’s a huge amount of money. I’ve looked into geothermal here. The main issue besides the money is the lifespan of the alternate energy generator. Roof tiles, windmills, and geothermal systems wear out after 25 or so years. You pay on a system over 25 years and as soon as it’s paid off you need to replace the system and start again. Tesla’s solar roofing tiles have a lifetime guarantee which is a big selling point. If I need a new roof for sure looking into getting one.

I thought about something out of the box in cooling. You know that air drops it’s temp when it goes so far underground… Have pipes go underground with air going into the them and coming back in the house. I guess it would take a fan to pull it in and out….just looked it up…yep people are doing this…letting the ground cool the air.

I think that’s what geothermal is, the air stays a constant temperature, then you don’t have to raise it much in winter or lower it much in summer. If you have stable ground it might work well. Where I live the ground moves around a lot.

No we have Rocks here….really rocky ground so it is still. We have large slabs in the ground here.

Would you have to drill to install the piping for it? Or would it be impossible where you are?

They usually blast here. Many houses have basements in Tennesse so they blast. I would love to try… I thought of that years ago…I didn’t know they did it.
