The trees are not able to sustain wholeness when battered by high winds and frrezing rain. The majestic willows are falling aoart limb by limb.
The power outage started around 1 a.m. last night. Projected restoration midnight Monday or should I say 12:01 a.m. Tuesday.
I got the Sea Foam for the generator and it started like a charm — thank you Max! — but it was chugging along and would sputter and quit. In the chug stage I quickly plugged a chord in then ran inside to plug the aquarium filter and bubbler in. No juice was coming through the chord or any of the three high capacity cords. I tried plugging a lamp in with no success in getting power to it. I am guessing generator wasnt running fast enough to generate electricity?
The generator kept stalling so I guessed it was the old gas. Went to hardware store and got a siphon and 5 gal bucket. Drained all of the 5 gallons out of it and added fresh ethanol-free gas and put a little Sea Foam in to unclog any line residue. It started up then chugged for about a minute then stalled. Now it wont start at all.
Older son has ordered a battery powered filter with delivery tomorrow. I pray the fish can hold on that long.
The moth picture was taken this morning at the gas pump, where it was resting. The moth has a sinister aspect to it today.
Reading and writing on my phone is one of my least favorite things. Until power is restored, you won’t be seeing me. See you all on the flip side.

I hope they get everything back up and going sooner than they said.

This morning the Consumer Energy outage center changed the estimate to THURSDAY at noon. I called and made hotel reservations for tomorrow or maybe longer. Tonight, just as dusk was falling, I heard the truck out there. They didn’t touch the limb, but they were able to get the power on quickly. THANK GOODNESS. All fish still alive (at least for now, we’ll see how it goes for the next couple of weeks.) Thank you for your concern, Hans.

Sorry, Lisa, I hope you get that tomorrow and it works or it comes back on earlier. Hope the weather there isn’t too hot.

Thanks for your concern, Max. The device showed up around 5 today and works like a charm. Younger son found one in GR and bought it, so I drove over last night to get it. Both of them going in the tank had it fully aerated. I changed almost 3 gallons of water and replaced it with water that was sitting in the sun yesterday and warm. Things worked out and I hope they all stay alive!

I hope they are ok Lisa…Hopefully the shock isn’t too bad. I remember us going through the same thing when we had an ice storm and the electricity when out.
I thought the Sea Foam would have cleaned it out completely.

The Sea Foam should have, according to the bottle. I don’t have a clue what the issue is with it, but it’s mighty frustrating.

I hate not having power and I hope your fish make it.

Jim, thank you. This power outage every time a limb falls off a tree is for the birds. And then to go through all of that trouble with the generator and it still didn’t work was outright demoralizing. They are all alive for now and power came on about an hour ago. YES.

I can really sympathize with this. It’s so frustrating… and your poor fish!
Writing by candlelight on ‘parchment’ was not romantic (or productive) when we had up to 6 hours of outages a day earlier this year.
All the best.

Thank you very much for your comment, Chris. A daily outage sounds like a daily nightmare. This morning I washed up after pouring cold water into a bowl, just like in the olden days. In this stifling heat, the cool water felt pretty good, but still… I’m happy the power is back on and now have lots of jugs of water — for the next time :(

It’s been back on for over an hour now. It’s amazing how much something you take for granted is missed when it is gone. Seemed like it was forever but a little less than 2 days. The worst was dead silence at night and trying to sleep. I had to put pandora on my phone but didn’t want to use up the battery on it. I burned up a lot of miles charging up the phone in the car over the past 2 days, which I didn’t know was possible until I watched to “miles until E” tick down quick.
