I got hooked on Cake back when my younger son left for college. His friend and roommate that he rode back and forth with played Cake and so younger son brought Cake home. I love everything about this band and I have every album they’ve made. The vocals, especially the timing of them, the clever lyrics, the trumpet, special sound effects, and the guitar are all exceptional. My older son and I were blessed to see Cake in concert at the Royal Oak Music Theater some years ago, a small venue, where we were so very close to them. What else stood out was the way everybody sang the lyrics together almost like a cult or something. It got a little weird as we all sang, “Satan is My Motor.” lol

Fashion Nugget is the second studio album by Cake, an alternative rock band from Sacramento, California. It was released in 1996. Fashion Nugget is one of my favorite albums of theirs.

“Open Book” is my choice from this album, but every song on the album is a winner in my opinion.
