Dustin had been a military man since he was fresh out of high school. Up until boot camp, Dustin’s long flowing blond hair had been the babe magnet that kept him beating the ladies off with a stick. After boot camp it was the uniform that drove them wild.
As Dustin was ambitious, the Corps welcomed and rewarded him and he rose quickly through the ranks. Once Dustin made Second Lieutenant, he got an upgrade in uniform, and oh my did he look dashing. In celebration of his promotion, Dustin decided to visit the Officer’s Club on base. Everyone’s head turned to look at him in his finery. He strode to the bar and ordered a draft, then looked around.
There she was, the woman of his dreams. She was sitting at a table of high-ranking officers, beside her father, who was a Colonel. Dustin sat watching her, mesmerized by her looks and body language. When she went to the jukebox, like a magnet to steel, he followed. Putting on his best “Officer and a Gentleman” demeanor, he bowed and said, “May I make your acquaintance, Miss?”
Cat-like green eyes turned towards him as she took a leisurely tour from the tips of his shiny black shoes to the crest of his impeccable hat and back, then to his eyes.
She purred, “I have the tenacity of an alligator and the disposition of one also. If that doesn’t scare the hell out of you, you’re a fool. My name is Emerald.”
Weak in the knees for the first time in his life, Dustin purred back, “I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
The End.
Fandango’s FOWC is tenacity, the Word of the Day Challenge is welcome, and Paula’s 3 Things Challenge words are dust, uniform, alligator
