Hot Fuss is the debut album by the American rock band The Killers, released on June 7, 2004, in the United Kingdom and on June 15, 2004, in the United States. The album is mostly influenced by new wave music and post-punk. Hot Fuss produced several commercially and critically successful singles: “Mr. Brightside”, “Somebody Told Me”, “All These Things That I’ve Done” and “Smile Like You Mean It”.

The lyrics to Andy You’re a Star are the subject of controversy. Some argue that it’s about a gay relationship between a guy and a high school football player. Singer Brandon Flowers said it is a song about a stalker and the object of his obsession. I can see it also as the football player being oblivious of the crush the guy has on him. Regardless, this song is achingly beautiful. I love the way Brandon saturates his voice with anguish and longing.
