Coloring Club Plus — 11/7/19 (no coloring)

No coloring again today. I’m letting my shoulder and arm rest for a bit.

This is another cut off of the Maudie soundtrack.

The Cowboy Junkies are an alternative country and folk rock band formed in Toronto, Ontario, Canada in 1985 by Alan Anton (bassist), Michael Timmins (songwriter, guitarist), Peter Timmins (drummer) and Margo Timmins (vocalist). The three Timminses are siblings, and Anton worked with Michael Timmins during their first couple of bands. John Timmins was initially a member of the band but left the group before the recording of their first album. The band line-up has never changed since, although they use several guest musicians on many of their albums, including multi-instrumentalist Jeff Bird who has performed on every album except the first.

Something More Besides You is the song. I wasn’t able to find out if this is off of an album or was written specifically for the soundtrack, but I think Michael Timmins composed most of the songs for the movie. This is the final track.

Something More Besides You

One foot stands before the crib
The other by the casket.
A question formed upon stilled lips
Is passed on but never asked.

I guess I believe that there’s a point
In what we do.
But I ask myself is there
Something more besides you?

Two are born to cross
Their paths, their lives, their hearts.
If by chance one turns away
Are they forever lost?

I guess I believe that there’s a point
To what we do.
But I ask myself is there
Something more besides you?

This morning I awoke,
The bed warm where it once was cold.
Small blessings laid upon us.
Small mysteries slowly unfold.

Yet I still wonder is there a point
To what we do?
‘Cause I kind of doubt
That there is something more besides you.

Although it’s hard to find the point
To what we do,
Do I dare believe that there is
Something more besides you?

Songwriters: Michael Timmins

  1. Well that’s a new one for me, thanks. I like the Cowboy Junkies, have had a couple of their albums (now have a greatest hits somewhere) but don’t know that much of their music I guess. They remained popular up in Ontario long after their American fame had passed.

              1. At first I never understood Coloring Club Plus, and I used to avoid your posts. I have since become very fond of it and I do like your coloring, but it is your diverse knowledge of music that I appreciate more. I hope your inflammation gets better soon.

                1. Jim, you are a kind soul. Thank you for your kind words. Most of that music info gets pulled from wiki. I usually know only the tip of the iceberg. You’ll see a coloring tomorrow. I worked on it off and on today, which is my new MO for them. All at one sitting is too much until this heals.

    1. Glad you like it. Not sure if you are one for love stories, but Maudie is the best one I’ve seen in a long time. I watched “Blaze” last night, part fact part fiction story of Blaze Foley. Real musicians playing the roles of Blaze and Townes! Charley Sexton plays Townes.
