dVerse — almost a Triolet — The greys and whites of March

The greys and whites of March do cling
Where sun’s recede has clouds in fief
So jealous of the green of Spring
The greys and whites of March do cling

Despite wheel’s might of change to bring
Where heat and hue will sing relief
The greys and whites of March still cling
The sun recedes with clouds in fief

I especially liked the line describing how the greys of March are jealous of Spring’s green.

You’ve an alluring poetic that just happens to be a triolet. I liked the line /despite wheel’s might of change to bring/. Nice internal rhyme. I’m still struggling some “with clouds in fief”, but it challenged my imagination.

Thanks, Glenn, glad you enjoyed the poem. Clouds in fief to me means clouds rule the skies, and by extension the earth and the season at this time of year.

  4. Great use of the form, and I really like those pairings: grey and white, and heat and hue – there’s a nice rhythm there.

Hmmm. I’m having difficulty envisioning clouds in fief, but the rest of the gloom describes my world today!

Clouds owning the skies (and the earth.) It has to be so gloomy to be moving at this time of year for you.

I am waiting for March to arrive knowing spring will follow soon. It’s been a long winter.

You made great use of colours in your triolet, Jade, which reflect the colours outside my window this morning, with a few added splashed of first daffodil yellow.

Beware the (greys and) whites of march, winter is strong, but yet hope for spring is real.

<3 Thanks for the encouragement. Right now it's difficult to see spring.

I can only imagine. Tomorrow we enter autumn, and there will be no discernible difference from summer until May.

  12. March has not yet begun but I do believe it will be a gray and gloomy one. It seems lately that even when the sky is bright, the sun is hiding behind the clouds. Maybe waiting for April…

I used March instead of February because of syllable count, but I agree with what it has in store for us.
