dVerse — quadrille 112– Snapshots

Snapshots

i
Blue cloud-puffed sky blanket
cushions sweetening pears
on leafy pillows as
they dream of wet wanders,
wobbling in verdant peace.

ii
Moist sacred mountains
yield lonely rock rain while
bright animal spirits watch
autumn wind macerate lichen,
soon dust motes in the snow.

This is an Oracle composition with some tweaking.

Your snapshots are so vivid, Lisa, and I had to read them aloud, the phrases are so plump on the tongue, especially ‘blue cloud-puffed sky blanket’. I also love the idea of the alliterative ‘wet wanders’ and the way the autumn wind macerating lichen makes me shiver.

I imagine myself lying in the grass looking up to the sky and dozing off to visualize your first stanza, hopefully waking before experiencing your second. ;)

Hi Lisa! This is something I need to share with my fellow writers here at dVerse. I so enjoy reading the work that you create and post, and am genuinely honored to be embraced as a part of this community of poets. May we all find healing in these challenging times. And as a true aquarian love child, and also a proud flower child of the 60’s, who truly believed then we would some day change the world to be a better place for all, and still believes that we might yet do it — I wish each of you peace, health, and love. Write on!

  17. Haiku-esque these two gems. I really liked the last line – ‘soon dust motes in the snow’ – it has a fine outward forward looking tone. Autumn here in all its chilly richness. Lovely.
