Doodads — new blog look plus

After being with WP a few years with no major changes to the design of the page, I decided to do it today.  One major change is that all of the links to past posts are now at the bottom of the page.  The format at the top is a lot more graphic oriented.  Not real crazy about the right-biased text and will be trying to figure out how to center it.  The font has been changed to a more user-friendly one (I think so anyway) and the color scheme is darker which is easier on the eyes (mine anyway!) A “logo” of Chauncey and the jade plant have been added (isn’t he adorable?)

Take a look and see what you think.

The music for today is an electronica tune I’ve heard on pandora radio many times.  Today I wrote the name down so I could find it on youtube and share it.

Great! Thank you for the feedback 🙂 I cannot figure out how it looks different one way clicking on the title in the feed vs. clicking on the “visit” button.

I really like it. But there’s always a but LOL
The white seems so bright. If you asking for feedback maybe the white could be cream or even a paler purple.
    Overall it’s perfect!

Thanks for the feedback, Jen. Do you know how to change just one of the colors? They have whole color schemes.

Yes. You can pick you own colour or tone. You’ll see it in the same area. You can move your cursor according to what you want.

This template doesn’t have that option. They have a bunch of color schemes that you can choose from but you have to take the combo whole.

Thanks for the feedback, Chris. One really good thing about it is all of your data shifts over from what I can tell. I think you can also make changes without saving them just to see what it would look like.

I did and I like it. A change is good. Memadtwo needs a serious update and cleaning, but Nina is not really up to it, and we need to do it when we can sit down together and hash it out. Clutter accumulates, even in blogs.

I’ve spent the last so many days categorizing the one giant folder of files on my computer. It was spurred by a poetry chapbook “contest” for MI writers. Once the poems are all in one folder I’ll try to find 30 or 40 to submit. It has been tedious but is giving me a sense of purpose.

Good luck! I need to organize both my writing and art. I submitted 2 small chapbooks last year, but it was pretty disorganized, and I got no response at all. This is a project for when I find a permanent place to live, maybe next year. First I need to sort through all the stuff now in the storage room. Once I get my physical space in shape, I hope to have more room for the mental space. I can’t even find things on my computer–neither images or poems.

Lisa, I love the changes! I’ve changed themes and the appearance of my blog many times and with that said, some themes don’t have the option to change the color of the background (noting comments from Jen). I am a stickler for colored backgrounds because it is easier on the eyes and do a thorough theme search until I find one where the background can be changed. Just because the description states “custom colors” doesn’t mean one can get rid of a white background. The theme you are using looks nice and organized but I agree with Jen, the white is hard on the eyes.

Love the new look, MsJadeLi! If you are typing using the Classic block, press SHIFT-ALT-J at the same time and it justifies the right margin. I do not think you can do it using the new Paragraph text block, or I have not found a way to do it.

Very nice! I never thought about the “brightness” of the white before (from your convo above) and went to look at my site. Isn’t it just normal “whiteness” that’s in most blogs? I peeked inside Jen Goldie’s blogs and it is nice how she has a color like this purple color you have here for comments everywhere…but how do you find it, I wonder? Where’s the mechanism? In the meantime, it looks good! I’m sure my site is going to remain the same for about 20 years, lol………….

You click on “My Sites” in the upper left corner, then click on “Themes” in the Design area. You can sort them into free ones and paid ones and test them out before saving. It transfers all of your posts, etc but you have to reset your main page image and a few other things. Pretty easy to do. I think I’ll be shifting mine to one without the brightness of white screen and also this one has all of the text on the right side of the screen which aggravates me. A work in progress 🙂
