#FF — The Stowaway

PHOTO PROMPT © Alicia Jamtaas

She broke off a stem of herself and stowed it away on the ship before it left Yautja Prime. She’d learned about secret hunting trips by the elite on a planet described as lush, green, and full of game.

The rumbling landing gear activated her from dormancy and she slipped out as the doors whooshed open. By the seventh revolution of this wonderland of water and oxygen she was as big as a forest – and so hungry.

Game here was furry, juicy, and easy to catch. No wonder the elite kept this place a secret!

[96 words]

A piece of Fan Fic from The Predator story. Many know about The Predator, but what if another life form from his planet of origin decided to visit…

  3. There were several railroads here in Bellingham taking coal and timber north and south. This is part of one abandoned long ago about twenty miles from our house. Gratefully, the city has turned many of the old railroad beds into walking trails.

fan fic is fiction that is written about a known story, in this case The Predator, which is a movie where a Predator from another planet comes to Earth to hunt humans every so often. Thank you.

I’ve been meaning to go rewatch The Predator and Alien and maybe the crossovers… maybe. Your story raises an interesting point I’ve considered. Sci-Fi often depicts planets as having one lifeform, at least only one to which we’re introduced. Earth has so many. Why would we think others would be different?

Thank you for you reading and your thoughtful comment. Hadn’t thought of that aspect until you just mentioned it. I’d like to see the original Predator movie again. I recently did a detailed review on the Alien series.

  13. Dear LIsa,

As I’ve never seen Predator some of this story escapes me. However the descriptions are as lush as the story. You left me wanting to know more.
Incidentally, my writing began quite innocently with fan-fic. 😉

    Shalom.

      1. Lisa, I was and still am an avid MASH fan. I used to “write” my own episodes in my head as an escape when I discovered fan fiction online. You can find my nascent writing here: https://www.fanfiction.net/u/803754/Bigelow I wrote under the pseudonym of Bigelow. Ever so often I get an email telling me someone has marked them as favorites. When I say nascent writing I mean, it’s full of passive voice, repetition and cliché. However what it did for me was give me permission to escape inside my head. Other benefits were learning to research to make sure details were in keeping with the timeframe AND I learned I could tell a story, beginning, Middle (arc) and end.
A few friends noodged me to write my own characters…eventually PLEASE SAY KADDISH FOR ME was born. 😉 Thank you for asking.

        Shalom,

        Rochelle.

I would be totally seventies “stuff” hunting…an unused pepsi cup? mine…I like things like that with history…and theme parks have a lot of history…

Just because of the danger of things falling through…yea you should have a group with you.
