  3. Powerful stuff. I’ve been on the platform on the underground and heard those comments so many times… I have noticed they have seemed to lessen. Not the suicides, the comments. Maybe we are waking up to the suffering of others. I hope so.

I think it happens a lot in NYC also. An acquaintance of mine moved to NYC to be close to his gf. He talked about the comments at the station and said it was one of the reasons he came back from the big city. I really hope so too.

It is also alarming on how many teenagers do it or try. Cyberbullying and the small world we live in doesn’t help.

You know the hard part? I’m not comparing this to this…don’t take me wrong but it’s like not over eating, quitting smoking etc…they have to want to get help. That is sooo hard.

I know what you’re saying, Max. So many keep it a secret so there is not an opportunity to help either. I’m still haunted by several kids I had on my caseload over the years that were suicidal, attempted it, and one even succeeded. I’ll never forgive myself for that one.

You have to Lisa… somethings are beyond us…and I don’t mean not try…yes we have to… but like the person I try to help gets agitated when I do try. I won’t give up but until he wants to get help…nothing will happen. My heart goes out to them all…nothing makes them happy at times.
