TSM 178 — A Chance to Shine

This time they say I look like Brando
but they’re looking for Charlie Sheen
Another time said I resembled Keaton
but wanted someone resembling Dean
I’ve read the scripts! I know the lines!
Give me a chance, please! One time!
Dialects from Shakespeare to Bronx
Struts like Astaire to a lumbering Ox
Hollywood looks are supposed to win
But auditioning today is for an indie,
which makes them a sin. Tomorrow I
try for a season they’re casting where
my cousin does the costumes, an in,
as Tracy likes the way she makes him
look thin. Wish me luck, my adoring
fans-to-be. One chance to shine and
I’ll soon be thanking the Academy!

I had 3 images to choose from and this one spoke to me.

Fireblossom is today’s host of The Sunday Muse.

Lisa, this was fun. Casting is hard, there used to be prices to pay. Now??

  5. While I’m luckily not in the acting business, I can only imagine how tough casting must be!

I know! So many candidates for every role. If I was a director, I’d find a casting director who I knew was good and make sure they were long-term employees.

As with musicians, very few actors get that big break. I’ve always liked that song too. (K)

It’s kinda like baseball…someone younger always trying to take your place. That is not a good feeling.
