Things that make me go hm?

Last night as I was watching movies, the bright of the almost full moon kept flickering through the blinds, finally calling enough times to motivate me to do something I rarely do:  go outside in the middle of the night to take a picture.  It was 3 a.m. when I set my new phone’s camera to “night” before stepping out.  Still learning how to take pictures with it (it has 3 cameras, don’t ask me why!) when I clicked to take the shot it “timed” for a few seconds before being finished.  Just to make sure it worked right, I took a 2nd picture.  I have the pictures below, unedited for anything including image size.  You tell me what you see.  What I see is something like a green orb in front of a tree in the first pic.  In the second pic, the orb has moved up into the sky.  Am I batsh*t crazy or could this be an ET?

reflection of what, Dale? doesn’t a “re” as in again, “flection” as in image mean it is reflecting something else?

It’s like the light from the moon (or sometimes, the sun) gets caught and somehow reflects. Here’s an article https://www.wkrg.com/weather/whats-that-dot-in-the-picture-of-the-moon/

Funner to think it’s ET but I agree ifs some kind of lens reflection issue.

I just thought of something: my camera case has a safety plastic over the camera lenses, so maybe that is what it’s bouncing off of?

OK, I think with everyone’s input it is some kind of reflection off of the camera case plastic going over the camera lens. Thanks everybody, I’ll sleep better tonight. My mind was running ragged with this.

And not to change subject or shamelessly plug my blog but I posted this morning for first time in. Awhile and I think you would enjoy the song.

Ah! Oh yes! I do love that song — almost as much as the 1952 Vincent Black Lightning. Thanks for the heads-up :)

Jen, it is a strange looking thing, where only one thing changes in the picture. Wouldn’t the whole image be looking different if it was a lens reflection?

Carol anne, so sorry you can’t see the pics. Yes, the way the moon lit the sky up made it easy to go out there at that time. Yes, I am :)

I opt for magic. Although I admit last night (about the same time) the full moon woke me and I got (I think) a great moon picture with the window reflection. We’ll see if it looks so good when I get around to downloading it…(K)

My first thought was a faerie but when it looked like a green moon in the 2nd shot I thought ET. Looking forward to your moon shot when you post it.

A couple of thoughts . First, yes, I’d say what most people have been saying, probably a bit of lens flare, either from the cover over the phone (which works like a skylight filter on an old film camera , which also occasionally caused that) or from different lenses within the actual lens assembly… especially because it had to deal with one very bright light and darkness all around. But , I’d also say, that’s probable but wouldn’t say it’s 100%… but I’m guessing you didn’t see that little orb when you were looking in real time?
Second, yes, very good camera quality! It’s amazing the capacity of some celphone cams these days, especially in low light. Would be very difficult to get these results with an ordinary film or digital SLR… I’ve tried!
    Happy moon-watching!

Thanks for your comment, Dave. No I absolutely didn’t see the orb when I snapped the pictures. I remember going to a reported to be haunted cemetery not too far north of here and snapping pictures. There were clusters of the orbs here and there in the cemetery and along the iron fence surrounding the place, but other pictures taken that day showed no orbs at all. None of them showed up while I was taking the pics.

Very cool photos! I know the moon the other night, might have been the same night, it was very bright and shining in my bedroom window. Sometimes I get those green orbs when taking a photo. Don’t know what they are. Let’s just call it a ‘moon spirit’ :)
