We’re in the middle of a winter weather advisory that is supposed to end tomorrow morning. The video was taken yesterday. Temp in the 20’s F, wind blowing the snow horizontally, but not much accumulation. When I woke up and looked out this morning, I was both surprised and relieved to see how much snow had fallen. As I have an appointment today at 3pm, I need to get out there and snowblow the driveway, as it looks like the plows have been through at least once so far.
Rainbow birds chatter,
swooping flying trapezes —
winter snow still falls.
Update at 2:16 p.m.: Just finished snowblowing. My new gator type face mask worked like a charm. The snow has stopped and the sun is shining. Thank you, Lord! The birds and I are happy.

I heard that on me Alexa too today~

Last week there were around five minutes worth of easily melted flurries. I hope it stays this week all winter

I’m a happy snow bunny right now. Winter is finally here.

The one thing I don’t miss. Buffalo is being pelted with lake effect snow today.

Jeez, this looks like a lot of snow. We were supposed to get some snow earlier this week, but not one flake fell. Overall, the weather this winter has been very mild so far.
One the one hand, I don’t miss the snow shoveling, since with a long driveway, it quickly becomes a huge project at my house. One the other hand, it does worry me.
Growing up back in Germany a winter without snow was pretty much unthinkable, and I lived in a region that didn’t have extreme climate. Pretty much comparable to New Jersey.
When moving to New Jersey about 20 years ago, I also recall winters with plenty of snow. For the past five years or so, we’ve had very little snow. Instead, we’ve now tornadoes!

I’m only guessing on accumulation but would say 9″ We’re supposed to be getting more. I’ve always lived in this area and a lot of snow always falls, but it seems to be falling later and later in the year. Would you prefer snow or tornadoes? I’m guessing snow! It feels like the winds this fall were way stronger than ever before, a more steady strong.

Definitely snow, as painful as the shoveling is – hey, at least it’s exercise!😆

We got another half-foot last night. I just heard on the radio yesterday that they recommend against anyone over 45 shoveling snow due to risk of heart attack. I don’t know how old you are, but if you are shoveling, BE CAREFUL to pace yourself.

Thanks, Lisa, I’m in my mid-50s, so I guess I need to tell my 20-year-old son!😆
We got a bit of snow overnight, but most of it melted during the day. That pretty much took care of the snow shoveling!😀

YAY! Oh yes, your son needs to be the one when the time comes!

Good luck, Kerfe, hope you have your necessary food and drinks in stock and hoping you don’t have to go out in it.
Hey, I watched a doc on Joan Didion last night. I’m guessing you are very familiar with her?

Looks like about 6 inches so far. Our street got plowed on account of the police precinct. I have plenty to keep me nourished for a few days.
Yes, Joan Didion has been remembered all over the place here. She never let her grief consume her, and wrote eloquently about it.

Glad you’re snug in your space, K. We got half-foot more last night. The sun is shining again though with some thin strips of blue between cloud cover.
The doc I watched the other night was done by her nephew. It was a joy to watch it even though some hard bits to learn 😦

I love your cold and snowy post, Lisa. Hope you have your winter tires on your bicycle! :>) Well done.

Thanks, Dwight 🙂 There is actually a “phatty” riding group that will continue through the winter. Am kind of tempted to get a phat-tired bike and ride with them, but we’ll see….

I have seen them. They would be great as long as you did not hit an icy patch!

Exactly, Dwight. I’m also considering trying out snow shoeing (sp?) which is a little safer.

:>) That would be safer for sure!

Rob, glad you enjoyed the snow. We got another half-foot last night, so I will need to get out there again if I need to go anywhere. Question: have you ever been to the Portland Japanese Gardens?

We got 71/2 inches and Nashville was locked down…2 inches will lock it down so I got to work from home for two days.

Wow, that’s a lot of snow for your area! We got another half-foot last night and it’s still laying on the driveway. Glad you got to stay home for 2 days.

Frank I can see your comment “We’re in the middle of a winter weather advisory that is … ” but when I click on the comment it disappears. Hopefully you didn’t get blasted with too much.

I’m obviously catching up here (big extra test-writing assignment to do). The snow looks pretty, and I’m glad you got it all plowed. We just got a couple of inches, and it was very pretty and could be swept away. But then it got very cold here!

We got another half-foot the next day, and finally I got out to snowblow again. This morning and afternoon, the sun shone just enough to melt the blown and street-plowed areas then refreeze them into ice. Happy you got your assignment done. The bone-deep chill winter gets lets you know it means business!

I’m still working on it. 😀
I’m glad you got some help from the sun.
