Ninth Circuit Briefs in Challenge to Arizona School District Ban on Beaded Graduation Cap — Turtle Talk

Excerpt from the legal challenge:

The District’s refusal to allow Larissa to wear her Native
American religious regalia at the graduation, while permitting other
students to wear comparable expressive secular messages, was a
violation of Larissa’s rights to free exercise of religion and free speech
under the U.S. Constitution and under Arizona law.

First word that comes to mind: shameful. They deny this young student the right to wear her religious regalia while allowing other students to wear their “expressive secular messages”?

Agreed on both, but at the same time why would they let all the other students wear their special things, but not this student? Especially knowing the religious significance and her dad asking for permission ahead of time. That’s just plain wrong, and I hope the courts do something.

Yes it is… it sounds like someone in charge didn’t favor that and that is just wrong. Yea they need to do something.
