dVerse — Quadrille 147 (2) — Is that you, Mo-Dean?

resized dream light in rearview 2022

At first it seemed to be a dream;
a blinding eye coiffed in black.
My first thought: they’re back.
Stalked peer of metallic goon
is more than holo in my sleep
as a scream begins to creep up
the back of my paralyzed throat.

This is my second offering for Bjorn’s prompt word for dVerse Quadrille Monday. It’s based on a dream “flash” I had awhile back. The image is my attempt to show what it looked like. The center of it was as bright as the sun and couldn’t be looked into.

    Ah the frightening dream that is so very real one wakes up in a sweat with bedclothes tangled and shallow breath.

      I still don’t know what to think about it. I was driving in a car and it looked like a light in the rearview window, but the glow around the edge and the fact that all around it was blackness gave it a more otherworldly aspect.

    That image could get under your skin for sure. But as I think I said before, it’s a great piece of art. (K)

      I may as well make light of it (until it comes back and takes me to “interdimensional outer space” 😉

        Yes. Well, the clouds have rolled in here. Sometimes we need those rainy evenings to recover ourselves, you know?

    I don’t know why but when you described the dream…a title of the Twilight Zone came to my mind…The Midnight Sun…I guess because of the black and the bright light in the mirror.

          From what I have observed about dreams is that anything in the waking world can be dream fodder, and the messages that can’t come through in words in dreams wait for the right image to come along in waking to pull into dreams.

      Bjorn, have you had dreams you forced yourself to wake up from? I know they can be so frightening.

      Thanks, David! You do know your body does become paralyzed in sleep? Otherwise we’d be sleepwalking all over the place and get hurt.
