Pictures from the past week 062322 to 062922

on

The following pics have been taken over the last week.  I made the hair appointment close to 2 months ago as at the time it was unthinkable my mom would be dying.  Since I hadn’t been to the salon since last fall and didn’t want to wait another 2 months for another appointment, I went.  My hairdresser is a very good listener so it all worked out well.

Also in here are pics from a group bike ride I did this past Sunday (the day before the funeral) and a solo ride yesterday.  Staying busy has been the best way not to dwell in rumination and grief.

where we stopped for tacos and tequila at around the halfway point on Sunday’s bike ride. This is a great place with good food and drinks at reasonable prices.

the other night, while i was watching tv, Dotty was on my lap as usual, with Mlady beside us. Mlady likes to torment Dotty and rested a paw on her tail. Usually Dotty will jump up and run away. Tonight she didn’t. As a matter of fact she started playing back by brushing her tail over Mlady’s paw time and again. This is a good sign after so many years.

part of the bike path goes along the Muskegon River. In the water on part of the edge are duckweed and white water lilies.

I left the path and went up to Hackley Park, which is across from our library and a big stone building that has served many functions over the years, including hospital, college, administration building, alt. ed high school, and has now been sold into private hands. It breaks my heart. A lot of events happen in this park, including Taste of Muskegon that I volunteered at a few weeks ago.

about a block down from Hackley Park is the Monet Garden. Not sure what this is but it’s a beauty.

Yes it is! And I had the whole place to myself, which is surprising as this is tourist season.

They just hang baskets of flower in the park? They look great.
Great bike path that has the water station and the view of that lake.

Yes, I’m sure they pay a local greenhouse to install and care for the plants. I just learned that is my go-to greenhouse also, BUT I learned the family who has owned it forever has sold it. Now that some corporation (headed by the former mayor) owns it it gets the contract. Things that make you go hmmmmm…. The bike path is a real asset to our community. It now connects almost all of the way to Grand Rapids to the southeast, and it does connect to the north to probably 40 miles of uninterrupted trails. We need to get it connected to the south now, to Ottawa County.

Wow on the florist! Yea that sounds really convenient!
The bike path is great and I’m glad they took the trouble in doing all of that for the bike riders and people in general!

Our taxes pay for it all, so we should pat ourselves on the back 😉
