#FF — Baby, Please Come Home

PHOTO PROMPT © Dale Rogerson

Fred began locking his phone. He stopped coming home after work and didn’t tell Delia why. He would sneak in late. During shared meals, the most he would speak were monosyllables.

Months later, a group of Delia’s co-workers invited her out for drinks. Jimmy, the known tomcat of the office, bought her Magners until everyone else left.

That fall, Jimmy and Delia are netflix and chillin’ at his place when someone knocks on the door. Opening it, they see it’s Fred, disheveled, crying – and holding a pistol.

I searched until I found your car. Baby, please come home.”

[100 words]

news.com.au defines Netflix and Chill as:

The cheeky combination of “Netflix” and “chill” plastered all over social media actually refers to an invitation for something a bit more, er, R-rated. Like asking your date to come inside for a “cup of coffee”, extending a “Netflix and chill” invite is code for sex. Of course, the definition is open to interpretation.

I hope Jimmy is good for something besides tomcatting! That’s why you always look out to see who is there before opening your door.

So funny. I’ve been bingeing “Kim’s Convenience” and the parents just learned what Netflix and Chilling means.
And good for Delia but not so good to convince her to come home while waving that gun around…

Dale, I keep seeing the banner for “Kim’s Convenience” but haven’t taken the plunge. Worth a watch? Agreed on Delia and her up close and personal dilemma.

I resisted. But after enjoying Schitts Creek so much, I figured hey, what the hell. It is so different yes enjoyable in another way. Can’t hurt to try, right?
As for Delia, this is problematic, needless to say.

Unlike Schitts Creek that is in some ficticious place that could be anywhere – but they still reference places like Toronto or Saskatchewan, Kim’s Convenience is in Toronto – but it doesn’t really matter, you know? I could picture any ethnic neighbourhood :)

  10. Dear Lisa,

In answer to the question, “Kim’s Convenience” is definitely worth the binge. ;)
As for Fred and Della…methinks he had it coming. I hope he doesn’t pull the trigger.

    Shalom,

Dear Rochelle, with your endorsement of “Kim’s Convenience” I’ll give it a chance — right after finishing S3 of “The Handmaid’s Tale.” I’m going to need to clean my palate after that with some comedy. Yes on Fred and Delia, I hope things end well for Delia and Jimmy (i.e. living) and Fred gets the help he needs.
      Shalom,
      Lisa
