TSM225 — Still. Listen.

Fierce air parched,
dust runs red;
shuffle the mine
where the dead
speak.

Still. Listen.

Auger turns,
its wet whisper
stirs gold.

Cool shadow
caves fill
empty space;

light of grace
wings its way
to quench.

      I’ve been doing some reading that is giving me ideas for poems. This is from the moon clan mother book by Jamie Sams (the being still and listening.) Thank you, Rob ❤

    I’m sure much would speak to us if we learned how to listen. (K)

    Oh, this feels both like the beginning of a story and the entirety of a myth. Enjoyed this!

      Wyndolynne, good call on the myth. It’s based on a chapter in a book I’m reading right now about a moon clan mother who is taught how to listen.

    Your words are reflective of the photo. In a place “where the dead speak and still. listen” there is truth in that…

    I enjoyed the word choice and cadence, as per usual, Li. So lyrical. I saw above that you said you’re doing some reading that has inspired you. I remember those days, lol !! Yeah, I think I need to get out of the crap I plow through (I need reading candy to decompress from work, you see) and get into stuff with substance and genuinely good writing. That always inspired me, too, before.

      Thank you very much, Stacey. I wish I could minimize my internet addiction and read more. I literally have stacks of books I’ve bought with the best of intentions lying around and many more e-version books 😦

        Oh, well, we all have those stacks of books, I think. I have on on the history of dirt and how sanitized we’ve become compared to history where people just dealt with natural things like odors, etc., one on the origins of Satan (that I think I gave away), books of trivia and facts that I thought I’d pump myself up with so I’d have something to say at parties that I never attend, lol. And I STILL think I’ll read them one day! (Except the one I gave away, but I could find it again). What is it about time? There is literally not enough time……using it wisely or not, there is never enough!

          LOL I like your booklist. The one that sits next to me by where I sit and watch movies, series, etc., on the end table right now are Murakami books and poetry books with a few oddballs thrown in there. Ah yes, and the Jamie Sams book on the Moon Clan Mothers, which is the one I’m reading the most. You’re so right, NEVER ENOUGH TIME.
