DOODADS BANNER

resized bunch of apples in tree 0902 (2)
Now that the big locust tree was trimmed, this apple tree is making up for lost time.
resized garden sage in planter 0922 (2)
cooking sage in a hanging basket. 2nd year plant.
resized grapes on front fence 0922 (2)
Lots of grapes on the front fence this year.
resized greyscale Carved sculpture at Blandford Farm 0822 (2)
Supposedly this is a carving of something but I don’t see it. This is at Blandford Farm, which is part of Blandford Nature Center in Grand Rapids, MI.
resized happy woolly thyme 0922 (2)
The woolly thyme is the happiest perennial I bought last year. It is draping over a stone. A picture doesn’t do it justice.
resized millet sprouted from bird seed 0922 (2)
I *think* this millet which sprouted from the cheap bird seed I bought last winter. It is pretty but invasive.
resized newly transplanted houseplants 0922 (3)
Plants that were moved into new homes this weekend include, clockwise from top left: 3 small jade combined into one pot, spider plants that had been sprouting in water, 3 or 4 lavender plants that had been sprouting in water, and the front 2, which are succulents that were moved from their root-bound pots into bigger pots. The are all beautiful, but my plants are taking over my living space! I need to have a roadside sale.
resized ugo in the butterfly weed 0922
I call this an UGO (unidentified growing object) that may or may not be part of the butterfly bush with the bright orange flowers. Wish I could have gotten a clearer shot of it.

geranium

The video is of a cheeky chipmunk climbing about in the newly planted houseplants.  Gotta give the little bugger credit for fearlessness.

Carol Anne, thank you. There’s always something new to see out there. I was very surprised by those grapes.

  3. Embarrassingly, I think this is the first time I’ve seen the asparagus plant. I didn’t know they had such furry looking leaves.

Gia, at first all that comes up is the actual asparagus like what you see in the store or market. If you don’t pick them, this is that they turn into.

You have a green thumb with all your growing things. That little chipmunk was cute and I’m sure your kitty likes watching him scamper around. 🙂

I’d like to turn them into jelly or wine if possible. It was a good year for every growing thing.

I have a friend who makes wine…it’s good but he went through so many bad batches…of course he might not know what he is doing lol.

LOL, maybe he’s really drinking it and telling you the batch went bad…. Jelly is probably easiest so I’ll try that and see what happens.
