POPO2022 day 3 — trees

card 3 trees resized

once upon a time
they may have footed about
but now they stand, still

once upon a time
they walked tall, leaves shimmering
happy, green nomads

they footed about
’til every place was seen,
their kingdom surveyed

but now they stand, still
digging deep with mirrored roots,
our friendly neighbors

I like the start of once upon a time. You could go a lot of different directions with that. (K)

I’ve taken up the idea, in fact, and hope to post something later.

I love trees! I won’t mention the character we both love though…cause I always do…. I like the line digging deep with mirrored roots. It sounds like something John Lennon would have came up with.

Oh, I am, Colleen <3 When I went up to Lake Bluff Farms to see the giant sequoia, I also found a group of big ginkgo there. The energy pouring to and fro between the tree and I was like long lost cousins reunited. Truly magical!

      1. It’s dryad magic for sure. I love resting my palm on a trunk. I always thank the tree for shade and for their leaves. I believe the trees communicate with each other through their root systems. It makes perfect sense to me.

I once read a story about how trees practiced ‘looming’ –
getting near and bending away from moving objects.
One tree got hit by a car and couldn’t loom anymore…

    Lovely poem. :)
