Firstly, I apologize for the rampant advertisements you’ll be subjected to when you go to the Teen Vogue site, but it’s worth it to learn about TV shows and Movies (many documentaries included) that educate about First Peoples in the U.S. It’s my understanding that November is Indigenous Peoples Month, but I would have posted this whenever it came across my path. I lifted what’s next directly from the site and have provided a link HERE to take you to the article.

I wouldn’t mind checking a few of those movies out.

I just finished watching Dark Wind and it was really good. It has a lot about Indigenous culture in it and they speak a lot of “Dine'” which is the language of one of the tribes, with subtitles. Some of those docs look like they would be very disturbing to watch 😦

Aleut Story is the one that caught my eye and I liked the trailer. They probably are disturbing because there are a lot of disturbing instances.
I know this is more trivial but I’ve seen some nice tv shows that seem to be fair…not about history as much but treating people how they should be treated… The Waltons had one and Gunsmoke had a few. Gunsmoke would show the ugly side also.

I do also. My kids got it for me for Christmas one year. The first one is the best I think. I love that scene in the park where he tells that dude where he’s going to put his foot and then does.

Oh yes the first one is the best. He just dominates in that movie.
The one about them going to Washington DC…Jennifer was on a field trip at the time and she is in it somewhere.
