I took a trip to the Amish bulk foods store a few weeks ago and came across hickory smoked dried torula yeast. Never heard of it before. Reading the back of the bottle I became curious about how it tastes. Looking at the price tag of $9.29 for 3.5 oz., I figured it must taste pretty good.
I haven’t tried it yet; will do an update on the post after I do.
Learn much more about it here. It has an interesting origin and other uses that you might find horrifying and/or amusing.
Question: have you ever used torula yeast as a food flavor enhancer? If so, what do you think of it?
I haven’t….but hey at least it has nutrients. What threw me was being an additive to puppy food. It sounds good though…odd byproduct.

I sprinkled a tiny bit into the chicken I had in the crockpot today. It is *concentrated* very little needed and it really gives the smoke flavor.

I think that one bottle will last a really long time. It’s super concentrated smoke flavor.
