Seems like everyone is obsessed with the snowstorm right now. I took this video about an hour ago (noon.) It wasn’t really that bad out then, but in the past hour the snow has really started having a fit out there. I will take another video of now and add it before posting this.
To warm you up I took a video recently of stirring milk into tea:
Same here in Toronto, and getting worse.
Horizontal snow and trees bending and swaying.
They say it feels like -4 and dropping.
Take care Li.

Jen, it is 3pm now and the storm is ramping up. What you describe with horizontal snow is going on here. I see the trees moving but not bending and swaying at this point. Take care there also!

The wind comes in blasts.
The pines about 20 feet from my apartment are at least 6 stories tall (I’m on the 6th floor) The larger/older trees are at least 8 stories (min) They’ve survived a lot of storms over the years. 🤞

I went out to mailbox and to clear space under bird feeders for the poor birds. Also filled feeders. Other than that I’m staying inside. Those packet hand warmers really came in handy today and now I have them in my hoody pockets and they keep warming my hands.

We got some snow…but here its the temp that hurt… woke up this morning and it was -4… down here…that doesn’t happen a lot. Today our high was a toasty 5 degrees. Right now it’s around 2 degrees.

Oh wow, Max. That’s even colder than here! It’s about 6 degrees here last time I looked, with a lot of snow and moderate winds right now. I fear what it will look out there by tomorrow. That drift on the 2nd video is now 3-4 feet high 😦

Woke up this morning with no electricity… it was 52 in the house… we have it back now thank goodness.
Wow 3-4 feet high… I wish we would have that once in a while!

Oh no power outage! So glad you got it back. My worst fear! I have a wood burner but silly me never thought to get a load delivered when the weather was good. My older son asked me if I had some just in case. Now wishing I had gotten some. 3-4 feet of snow is good — in theory 😉

We have a fireplace BUT it’s in my music room and that would dry out my guitars…or at least I think so but…it never gets this cold down here usually unless the ice age is coming.
I do wish we could get snow.

Just popped into WP to wish you a Merry Christmas. Your videos of the snow are incredible. I can’t imagine what it feels like. Sending you lots of love from Australia. Suzanne

Suzanne, happy you popped in. The storm has gotten much worse since those videos. Trying to stay warm and praying there are no power outages. How goes your corner of the world??

I’m sorry to hear things are so bad over there. It’s nearly 6pm Christmas Day here. I had a pleasant enough lunch with various family members – quite formal but ok. After a lot of heavy rain it was hot today but the rain is back in a couple of days I think. I hope the power stays on where you live. The snow storm sounds very scary. My blog is still private as I do a major edit and figure out just where I want to take it in 2023 🙂 It will open again sometime in January. I hope you have a safe Christmas and New Years.

Happy you spent Christmas day with loved ones, Suzanne. Heavy rain has got to get concerning at some point I would imagine. Hoping what has fallen soaks in before more comes. Thanks on the power, so far so good. The snow continues to fall, heavier today. I’m snowed in and it’s too bad to drive the 50 miles to Grand Rapids, where my sons live, so the plan is to do a zoom call today and when (if?) it stops snowing and I snow-blow myself out of here, we will gather face to face for Christmas. I can hear the gifts rustling in their paper, impatient to be opened, but Mother Nature is calling the shots. OK I saw you had your blog set to private, now I see why. Best Wishes back to you ❤

Oh dear. Sorry to hear you are missing out on a planned Christmas get together. These are strange times and plans are often going awry. I hope you manage to find some joy in the day anyway.

We were lucky to barely get any snow. But the temps fell. We had a heatwave today with temps rising above zero.
Stay safe and warm!!
I heard on the news that a particular airline was really having issues with canceled flights. And they think they might not get ‘untangled’ until the first week of the new year!!

You truly are lucky to get barely any snow. I told Colleen earlier that we had a foot and a half, but when I took the tape measure out this morning 14″ still standing. The drift out front is pretty tall but that’s the worst of it. The temps have gone up and I think it was around 24 today when I drove to Grand Rapids.
Airline issues, including a fear of flying, are what keeps me from going to warm places in mid-winter. I bet this winter airline tangle was worse than usual.

It is my belief (except with blizzards) that most northeren places know what to do with the snow they do get.
Unlike Indiana where I lived for several years that didn’t know what to do when on flake fell. But you don’t prepare for what you don’t normally have to deal with.
Stay safe!! Hmmmm any trains in the area? However train travel isn’t what it used to be. Just like airlines (or airline food)… Some change isn’t so good. But then folks used to fly in dirigables airships too…
We are back down to 27F at 9am this morning. Might get up to 47F around 2pm.
Yes I’m sure that one airline isn’t the only one that had issues. What a mess. Again – stay safe!!

Well-said, Jules. We don’t have many trains around an no passenger trains in my town. An hour or so away there are Amtrak’s but with Covid, the idea of being trapped in a germ-infested train doesn’t sound too thrilling. We are up to 41 now and the sun is shining.

Hubby’s car temp got up to 55F – he’s out playing 9 holes of golf!
I had to fly late last year, early this… masked. Not fun, but we are safe. I’ve gotten my boosters, flu and other ‘shots’ –
Unless you have the funds to get your own compartment…or sleeper (almost as if not more than a plane… and bring your own provisions… and like to look out the window…)… Trains can be trying too.
Stay safe 🙂
