I was given this slim volume of poetry as a Christmas gift, and I have to thank my friend, Trish, for her thoughtfulness. Thirty-eight poems, most one-page or less long, feels like a conversation with nature as transmitted by the author. Mary Oliver feels at home there, and she makes me feel ok with being infused with my life-long wonder of it with her. She acknowledges that all aren’t tuned in and she’s ok with that that. Favorite poems: “Angels,” “The Country of the Trees,” and “What Gorgeous Thing.” I really hope that Mary, who passed away a few years ago, was planted near a tree or a tree was planted over her grave so her fondest wish for the afterlife would come true.
Of course I had to try and find out where Mary was buried. All I could learn was Hobe Sound, Martin County, FL, USA. If anyone has further details, please let me know.
In my search I did find this tribute video of people reading Mary’s poems.
What a nice gift! I love Mary Oliver 💗

Yes, and it’s a nice introduction for me to her work. Haven’t read too much of it until now.

I have a book of her collected works. I should start reading it more. Reddit has poetry pages, and they often post her works.~!

I’d read a few books by Mary Oliver; I’d like to read one called Dream Work again. And this one you mention 🙂 always up for a good book of poems

Not 100% sure but this one may be her last book of poems.
