Since I was just having a blog conversation about best and worst movies of the year, looking at 250 entries at the library database, here are my choices.
BEST, in no particular order:
Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris
The Northman I liked it better on second viewing.
Vengeance
Top Gun: Maverick
The Woman King
The Outfit
Crimes of the Future beware this one is kinky, erotic, and disturbing. David Cronenburg directs.
Margrete
White Noise
WORST, in no particular order:
Nope
Elvis
Morbius
Thor: Love & Rockets
Studio 666
I liked Top Gun Maverick and the David Bowie retrospective Moonage Daydream. Where the Crawdads Sing was pretty good. Elvis was OK, didn’t love or hate it. The Lost City was disappointing and so was Weird (Al Yankovic). The 355 was so boring I fell asleep. Marry Me was awful. Blonde was the worst. Cyrano was fabulous! I would pick that as my favorite 🙂

I recently watched Moonage Daydream and am still trying to absorb it. So much there. Haven’t seen Crawdads. Liked Lost City except for Bullocks horrible plastic surgery lol. Want to see Weird but in no rush. Marry Me so-so imo. Haven’t seen Blonde, or heard of it, but I guess no great loss 🙂 You and I will have to disagree on Cyrano, couldn’t get through it. There were a lot of good movies put out this year. Hoping 2023 will be another good year for them.

Elvis was a real disappointment to me as well, acting was great though.

I liked the movie, but the guy playing Elvis just didn’t sit right with me. Hanks was good as the creepy colonel.

I liked the few I’ve seen from your best list. And agree that Thor love and thunder was a flop.

I really like Mrs. Harris. She was so cute and deserved that darn dress. Very heartwarming movie.

There is no other way to see TGM than on a big screen, it needs that big screen and big sound.

I got ‘this looks terrible’ vibes from Morbius at the trailer stage. sadly. I’d much rather have been wrong because I do like Jared Leto. Interesting about Elvis. The story didn’t call to me much but I have heard good things about the acting.

Gia, I really wanted to like Morbius 😦 I like the guy who plays Elvis as an actor but he just didn’t have the oomph for it imo. Tom Hanks otoh was deliciously creepy.

Oomph is very important when playing an icon. 😁 I have to make time for Hanks’s Otto film soon.

Gia, I read the book the movie is based on and it is very good. I imagine the movie will be also. Speaking of Tom Hanks, I’ve been watching his son, Colin, in a FABULOUS series, “The Offer,” about the making of “The Godfather,” as told by the producer and his experiences. He is looking more and more like his dad every year.

I remember reading Mario Puzo’s The Godfather and enjoying it. I’ll look up The offer as well, thank you.
