to see matter
clouds call
trees draw
find gentle voices, sigh;
myself, reflection
kind to leave
through fairy-land
come with me
begin to see
it does matter
clouds call
trees draw near
find out why
hear it all
Original lyrics:
Tuesday afternoon.
I’m just beginning to see,
Now I’m on my way.
It doesn’t matter to me,
Chasing the clouds away.
Something calls to me.
The trees are drawing me near,
I’ve got to find out why.
Those gentle voices I hear
Explain it all with a sigh.
I’m looking at myself, reflections of my mind.
It’s just the kind of day to leave myself behind.
So gently swaying through the fairy-land of love,
If you could just come with me and see the beauty of
Tuesday afternoon.
Tuesday afternoon.
Tuesday afternoon.
I’m just beginning to see,
Now I’m on my way.
It doesn’t matter to me,
Chasing the clouds away.
Something calls to me.
The trees are drawing me near,
I’ve got to find out why.
Those gentle voices I hear
Explain it all with a sigh.
When I saw this image I thought of The Moody Blues’ song, “Tuesday Afternoon.” I took the lyrics and found a poem (beyond the poetry of the original lyrics written by Justin Hayward.)
Carrie is the host of The Sunday Muse.
Beautiful song and image 💙

Clouds call.. perhaps that’s why they have been so plentiful lately! A great way to make a new poem. (K)

Wow, it’s really remarkable how you “find poems”, Lisa. I love “Tuesday Afternoon” by the Moody Blues. That entire album, “Days of Future Passed”, is a true masterpiece!

Thanks much, Christian. As soon as I saw that pic, I thought of that song, and then the idea to try to do a found poem with the lyrics. I like the way it turned out. Yes that album is great.

A creative take on the prompt. Found poems are always interesting. When I looked at the photo I heard “Into the Mystic” by Van Morrison.
