#FF — Auspicious

PHOTO PROMPT © Alicia Jamtaas

Energy shoots between their palms, its threads traveling through them like starbursts on Independence Day. Marco, excited to be heading to boot camp, wants to fight the oppressors and drive them from their country. Georgette uses sheer will to keep her smile going for him. She knows what happens to green soldiers.

That night, as Marco sleeps on the bus, Georgette has a dream. A falcon, its talons outstretched, attacks a great bear, tearing its eyes out. The bear turns and runs, bellowing, into the stand of winter trees. The falcon flies towards the mountain shining in the sun.

I had the vision of a bird attacking the bear (i.e. Russia in my mind) and looked up the national bird of Ukraine and learned it is a falcon.

I loved the shaman-like quality of this story. Great use of symbolism. I do sort of feel sorry for the bear (unless the bear is Russia as you suggested in the comments).

    Hi
interesting what the dream tells about you as every text shows the author’s basic fears and hopes.
A typical woman’s dream expressing the hope that the smaller power will win. As I am not your psychoanalyst we leave it here and hope that falcon and bear meet in a more friendly way in the future.
    Thanks for sharing your text

Thanks much, Klaus. I had in mind Russia being the bear attacking Ukraine and Ukraine a swift and focused falcon enemy of the bear. Ideally their conflict will end soon and the bear can grow new eyes with sensible vision.

Well, it is an appropriate symbolisation but every dream tells you something about your personal state of mind. It’s a literary metaphor but if it is a real dream you have to find out what it says about your psyche.
