I found relief in silhouettes
drab outlines of daily life
where blue flame makes
fresh coffee highlights.

Once sick I craved chaos
moonlight’s molten smack
that oozed my grey goo –
until the cane rapped; cried
surprise, holster roulette’s
glok, clatter the mask, ask,
go back to the beginning of
things: grandma’s kitchen

before the fall and all hell
came to scramble my eggs.
Time repeats yet moves on
I think as I sip my cuppajoe.

It is a classic response to cover multiples of images in your writing Lisa! Great wordcraft!

Nice write, I like your sequence. Works with and without all the pictures. I mainly try to use the photos as illustrations and let the poem be able to stand alone. Readers don’t always get that though; the picture sometimes channels their thoughts.
Perhaps an aside, but my daughter got me onto the photo bit, she thought pictures keep reader more satisfied. Thats when I changed my blog name also. She can write well but mostly writes music and technical writing such as textbooks.

Jim, thank you. I think whatever moves the creator should be their mode of expression. You sound like a proud papa with your daughter. Very cool that she also is a writer (and photographer?)

Vivid and perfectly set on the verge of something…that coffee imagery echoes the noir tone.

Such beautiful imagery in this Lisa and I love how it wraps around full circle and warm like the pot warning on the stove.
