FOTD 28th March 2023: Dandelion — Chronicles of an Anglo Swiss

Just a lonely dandelion growing by the wayside where its seed fell and began to grow. FOTD 28th March 2023: Dandelion

FOTD 28th March 2023: Dandelion — Chronicles of an Anglo Swiss

seeing Pat’s picture of the dandelion inspired my poem:

small sun portends
old man winter’s receding
Persephone, rise!

The Mrs. and I tried to eat one. The sources in the know say they are healthy and tasty. Not so, what a un-tasty morsal that was when added to my Julius Caesar salad, but yet they are a beautiful flower. I leave them alone as long as they don’t take over my yard. Spring was in Texas three weeks ago, then a 27 degree night and bam, killed almost everything back to start again. My Vitex bushes are pissed.

I’ve never tried to eat a dandelion but I’ve drank dandelion wine. Dandelions are what give honeybees a good start in the spring here. They carpet the grassy areas and more every year. Let me add I live in the country with no near neighbors (who care.) Oh so sorry to hear about the unexpected freeze. It’s always a risk isn’t it. Today we have snow going on, and I just saw the first robin.

And here I thought it was going to be a Haibun for dVerse – since the theme was weeds!
    Lovely. I actually love dandelions.

I do too. They give the bees a decent start in the spring.

Exactly. I am very much a part of the No-Mow-May movement. Not because I’m lazy, even if I am, but because the bees deserve a yummy start.

So cool what dandelions symbolize to each person. Still waiting to see them here.
