Consider my mind officially boggled with what’s going on in the Tennessee State Legislature. I’m glad VP Harris was the one to give the speech there. Biden doesn’t have enough juice left in his prune self to do it. Readers, be afraid, be very afraid. The action by the legislature in TN cannot go unanswered. A state legislative body that removes its members because of a freedom of speech issue is not only in violation of the US Constitution but of the civil rights of those members who were removed.

It’s very possible she will be. I don’t know how much longer President Biden will keep going. I say Harris for Pres and Buttigieg (sp?) for VP

I agree with Paula. Too many young people never look beyond the tiny self-involved worlds of their screens. Like sheep being led to the slaughter, when (or even if) they realize what they’ve lost it will be too late. (K)

I read on CNN that Pearson said, “we are losing our democracy to White supremacy”. And I’m pretty sure I just watched these days vids of a few black YouTubers who are IN FAVOR of gun ownership. It’s not about race. It’s not just black/ hispanic/ whatever people who suffer because of mass shootings. White people died too. How about drop the race card and focus on EVERYONE’s safety and well-being. What a complete mess, really, gives one a headache. As for Kamala’s speech, the background check is a bit faulty. Say, a person gets a clearance to own a weapon but in two months they have a mental breakdown and decide to shoot up a school. I don’t know… It’s crazy. Sad for the innocent ones paying for the madness of others.

Well-said. We all lose with maniacs shooting up the school and legislators trying to silence anyone protesting gun control. It’s part of a trend of violent fascism.

Usually, I stay out of politics since it has become such a polarizing environment. I have to say what happened in Tennessee was a disgrace.
I understand there need to be rules in the legislative body since otherwise you’d have chaos and if the rules are violated, those violations need to be addressed. But it simply isn’t plausible that expulsion was the only remedy here.
What makes the saga even worse is the two representatives who were expelled are African Americans while the vote to expel the third, white representative fell short.
Shame on those who voted to expel!
