#FF — A Trick of the Light

on

PHOTO PROMPT © Dale Rogerson

Dale’s on an early morning neighborhood walk. As dawn light breaks through clouds, beams fall on the brick building. Are her senses deceiving her? The painted forest gleams. Painted geese are flying. The jay calls. She inhales the perfume of peonies. Darkened windows in the cabin flick on.

Dale shakes herself from the illusion and reaches for her camera. Everything shrinks to one dimension as she snaps a photo. She’s convinced it was a trick of the light.

Next morning, Dale approaches and sees a woman standing at the cabin door, beckoning. Eyes wide, Dale hesitates – then goes towards her.

  6. This mural is really impressive. When I looked at it first before reding your story, I also thought it’s incredible how three dimensional the two ducks or geese on the right side look, as if they were literally coming out of the wall!

And Dale returns to her laptop and shares her fantastical tale with her blog readers — under fiction, of course!
